It's easy to make the mistake of thinking that a travel advice website penned entirely by civil servants would be dry as a bone, but visit fco.gov.uk and you may get the feeling that you have landed in the electronic pages of one of the redtops. Current headlines scream 'Global Terrorism Warning' and 'Avian and Pandemic Flu' and if you dig a little deeper the real life stories are the stuff that tabloid editor's dreams are made off. Take for example the hapless tale of Sandra facing a 25 year jail sentence for drug smuggling in Bangkok, or Alec who gets stranded in a New Deli hospital with cerebral malaria. Naturally there's a serious point to all this, but it makes for a surprisingly good read.

Crammed with advice and information; it's hardly surprising that fco.gov.uk provides serves as the industry benchmark; certainly one to bookmark.
