Norway through official eyes

Perusing around this enigmatic site is a good warm-up exercise for finding your feet in Norway. The Norwegian Tourist Guide has set up an online slideshow that covers nature, culture and the seasons, complete with shots of the northern lights, reindeer roaming free, and enticing fjords. The maps are also a fantastic resource: you can click on them to zoom in on particular areas of interest. Home in on the fjords; on good skiing areas; or nose among Viking relics in Vestfold. This area is renowned not only for its remnants of axe-wielding forebears, but also for its Bøkeskogene(beech tree woodlands). Although many of the pages on this site seem to have been patched together from others, and the language is liberally doused with PR-ese, there is some stunning content worth sifting out.
