In the fine tradition of African leaders celebrating themselves October 10 is Moi day.
Shortly after this (20 October) Kenyans take a day off to remember their namesake with Jomo Kenyatta Day.
Independence Day falls on 12 December. Kenya has a mixture of Christians and Muslims, who respectively follow their own religious festivals.
The other big event on the Kenyan calendar is the wildebeest migration from northern Tanzania into the Masai Mara Reserve (July/August).
