Since Icarus' bungled aviatory antics it appears the Greeks have learned a thing or two about manpowered flight. The mysteriously-titled Hellenic Paragliding Server is out to proselytize and with free use of launch sites, transportation to the mountain, and general assistance how could you refuse? The uninitiated can undergo conversion on a tandem flight(all the instructors are qualified) and currently en vogue is Ag Gordios, owing to a combination of spectacular views and the soft landing afforded by the beach("watch out for those tourists!"). Flight times vary depending on the wind, but a recent southwesterly took a local pilot 25 kilometres.
If you're looking to experience a little more adrenaline, the thermals around Mt Pantokratoras regularly take people up above a thousand metres. Between lounging about Posidonio restaurant(the HPS's haunt in Ag Gordios) and riding the lofty cerulean juice, the Hellenic Paragliding Server haven't found enough time to update their website, so while it's unlikely to sweep you off your feet it serves as a good point of contact. You'll also find a wealth of information on other paragliding hotspots in Greece.
