When you visit Luxor, many different factors influence your choice of accommodation. Price is one of the main factors, of course, but so is location; do you want to be in the thick of the city action or perhaps somewhere more peaceful to unwind? Luckily, Luxor has a wide range of accommodation to suit all budgets and requirements. And the good news is that most hotels represent excellent value for money, especially compared to British prices.
If you're on a tight budget you'll find backpackers' hostels represent great value for money. The Happy Land Hotel in the city centre is one of Luxor's best loved hostels, charging less than £3.00 per person per night for a two-bed room with en-suite bathroom(not to mention: internet access, car and bike parking, air conditioning and a roof-top restaurant).
For travellers with a little more to spend, there is a wealth of three-star hotels in Luxor. For example, St Joseph Luxor has a great view of the Nile from its air-conditioned rooms. If you don't fancy a swim in the river, take advantage of the hotel's heated pool, perhaps after you've enjoyed the sauna or Jacuzzi. Staying there costs less than £15.00 per person per night.
For five-star luxury, try the Sonesta St George Hotel, which is within walking distance of the temple and the museum. The terrace overlooks the Nile. Facilities are impressive, including baby-sitting, valet parking, massage and hairdressing. There is a choice of seven places to eat within the hotel, and you can use the swimming pool or the well-equipped gym to burn off all those calories! If you love shopping, don't forget to browse through the mini-arcade on the ground floor.
Prices at the Sonesta St George start at about £60.00 per person per night, but the hotel does run occasional promotions along the lines of "three nights for the price of two", which can bring the total cost down substantially, so don't rule it out on budget grounds until you see what's on offer.
